| Seville café |
During a cold, grey weekend in Paris, I spent some time in some canal-side cafés, sipping tea, listening to conversations around me and soaking up the atmosphere.
This canal-side café-restaurant is one of my favourite haunts in Paris. It's the eponymous setting of René Clair's 1938 film - which I watched ages ago and really must re-watch. When I'm there I also think about the wonderful 1934 movie l'Atalante by Jean Vigo, which also includes scenes along the canal.
A bit late in the day, but here is the only painting I did during my recent trip to New York. It was a boiling hot 4 July and I spent a bit of time in the park they've created on the waterfront in Williambsurg. The area has changed quite a bit since I lived in New York 4 years ago. It's still great - just different.
